Chain Link Fencing

Chain Link Fencing in San Diego County

Chain link is the most cost-effective fence per linear foot. It is the right call for security perimeters, pet and yard containment, commercial and industrial sites, and anywhere you need a durable barrier without a privacy requirement. Vinyl-coated chain link (black or green) is far less industrial-looking than raw galvanized and is increasingly popular for residential backyards.

Chain link grades and coatings

Residential gauge for backyards and pet runs, commercial gauge for higher-traffic perimeters, and industrial gauge for sites needing maximum durability. Galvanized is the lowest cost; black or green vinyl-coated looks cleaner and adds corrosion resistance, which matters near the coast.

Where chain link makes sense

Dog runs and pet containment, backyard perimeters where privacy is not required, commercial and storage-yard security, sports courts and batting cages, and temporary or construction-site fencing. Add privacy slats or screening fabric when you want partial visual blocking.

Posts, tension, and gates

A chain link fence is only as good as its tension. We set terminal and corner posts in proper footings, run top rail and tension wire correctly, and stretch the mesh to spec so it does not sag. Gates get proper hinges and latches sized to the opening.

Common Questions

Frequently asked.

Is chain link the cheapest fence option?
Generally yes. Chain link is typically the most cost-effective fence per linear foot, which is why it dominates security, containment, and commercial applications. Written estimate after a site walk.
Can chain link look less industrial?
Yes. Black or green vinyl-coated chain link looks significantly cleaner than raw galvanized and blends into landscaping. Adding privacy slats or screening fabric softens the look further.
Is vinyl-coated chain link better near the coast?
Yes. The vinyl coating adds a corrosion-resistant layer over the galvanized steel, which extends life in San Diego's salt air compared to bare galvanized.
Can you add privacy to a chain link fence?
Yes — privacy slats woven through the mesh or attached screening fabric provide partial to substantial visual blocking while keeping chain link's cost advantage.
