Complete kitchen renovation transforming a dated 1990s kitchen into a modern open-concept space. The project included removing a load-bearing wall, installing new custom cabinets, quartzite countertops, professional-grade appliances, and a large center island with seating.
The Challenge
Removing the load-bearing wall required structural engineering and careful coordination. The homeowners wanted to remain in the home during construction. The project needed to integrate with the existing home's architectural style while achieving a modern aesthetic.
Our Solution
We engaged a structural engineer to design a hidden steel beam system that would support the load while maintaining clean ceiling lines. We set up a temporary kitchen in the garage and created dust barriers to allow the family to live comfortably during the 8-week project. Our designers selected transitional-style elements that bridged the home's traditional architecture with the owners' modern preferences.
The Result
The completed kitchen has become the centerpiece of the home, with the owners reporting they now entertain far more frequently. The open floor plan dramatically improved traffic flow and natural light. A recent appraisal showed the home's value increased by more than the project cost.
